Requirements For Registration/Mobilization Of Graduates

This is very important information:
In order to ensure a seamless registration, prospective corps members are to note the following for strict compliance:

The Website address is any of the following:

www.nysc.gov.ng

nysc.org.ng

portal.nysc.org.ng

Prospective Corps members should ensure that they have functional e-mail addresses that they can access and Nigerian (GSM) telephone numbers with which to register. They will use the Email address and password to login to the NYSC portal subsequently and so are advised to keep it safe

Locally trained prospective Corps members are expected to use correct Matriculation numbers to register

For locally-trained graduates, only those whose names appear in the Senate/Academic Board Approved Result lists submitted by their Institutions will have access to the register on the NYSC portal.

Foreign-trained prospective corps members/those who acquired on-line qualifications should ensure that their Institutions are accredited. They should approach Federal Ministry of Education for evaluation. The letter of evaluation must be uploaded during registration.

Those who graduated from Institutions outside Nigeria, (Foreign-trained graduates) or obtained on-line foreign certifications, are to visit the NYSC portal, register and upload the following documents:

a. West African School Certificate(WASC) (with not less than 5 Credits at 2 sittings) or its equivalent; or General Certificate of Education (GCE O’ Level) (with not less than 5 Credits at 2 sittings) or its equivalent; or NECO (with not less than 5 Credits at 2 sittings) or its equivalent; or High School Diploma or its equivalent.

b. First Degree or Higher National Diploma (HND) Certificate (Second Degree or Ph.D not necessary).

c. Complete Official Transcript of the first Degree or HND.

d. International travelling Passport showing personal data page and date of departure.

e. ATTESTATION LETTERS OR TESTIMONIALS are not acceptable in lieu of original Degree/HND Certificates.

f. All working class Graduates and graduates of on-line foreign qualifications are required to upload their original ADMISSION LETTERS and LETTER OF APPROVAL from their respective employers to undertake their courses, as the case may be.

g. All graduates of Medicine and other health related courses such as Nursing Science, Laboratory Science, Physiotherapy, Pharmacy etc MUST posses and upload current-professional license. Expired license is not acceptable for mobilization.

It is the responsibility of the prospective corps members who studied in non-English speaking countries to get their Certificates and Transcripts translated into English language before uploading. Such translation must be done in the accredited Institutions or Embassies.

All graduates of Medicine, Veterinary Medicine, Physiotheraphy, Radiology, Optometry, Medical Laboratory Science and Pharmacy are expected to have their Certificates of Registration with their professional bodies. Payment receipts are not acceptable.

Unlike in the past, Foreign-trained graduates should NOT visit NYSC Headquarters, Abuja for verification of their documents. This exercise will now be done at the Orientation Camps. They should simply print their call-up letters on-line and report at the Orientation camps in their States of deployment, but should come to the camp with the original documents they uploaded for verification.

Anybody who presents any fake document will be demobilized and decamped and handed over to law enforcement agencies for prosecution.

Prospective corps members should ensure that Passport photographs used meet the following specifications:

Ensure your face (eyes, nose, ears, mouth and jaw) is fully shown without bending

Ensure the picture fills the frame and centralized

Ensure the Photo background is white or off-white with no shadow.

On no account should prospective corps members register by PROXY. They should also remember the fingers used for their biometric capturing as these will be used for verification at the orientation camps. Those who cannot be verified with their biometric at the orientation camp will not be registered.

Only prospective corps members who want their call-up numbers sent to them through SMS and wish to PRINT their call-up letters on-line are expected to pay N2,786.24 (see NYSC Portal on how to make payment).

Prospective Corps members who do not want to pay the N2,786.24 have the option of going to their schools to collect their call-up numbers and call-up letters.

All prospective corps members who paid for the online registration before but were not mobilized need not pay again.

Married female prospective corps members (whether locally or foreign-trained) should upload copies of their marriage Certificates, evidence of Change of name and their husbands’ place of domicile during registration.

The orientation camp is highly not ideal for pregnant and nursing mothers. Prospective corps members in this categoriy are therefore to note that they will not be accommodated.

All Part-time graduates are expected to register online and wait for collection of their Letter of Exclusion at their various Institutions. For those willing to print the Letter of Exclusion online, this can be done on payment of N2,786.24 only.

Foreign-Trained graduates are to use Nigerian Phone numbers during the online registration.

PLEASE NOTE THAT ONCE THE PORTAL IS CLOSED, THERE WILL BE NO FURTHER REGISTRATION.

Fact: Never Ever Marry An Akwa Ibom Lady - Romance - Nairaland
Posted by: kudus_man - 10-30-2019, 12:48 PM - No Replies

This isn't an unverified rant

This fact is borne from painstaking research and experience documented and shred here for other aspiring bachelor's

1. Nigerian women ranked number one in terms of infidelity , wit akwa ibom being the state with the highest percentage of unfaithful women
Google this

2. Akwa Ibom women are the most found in church administration across Nigeria ..

3. Akwa ibom women see marriage as a burden and usually rock life with reckless abandon till their mid thirties then join a church , even get a position in church with hopes someone married their left overs as a wife

4. Akwa ibom has the highest number of over 30 unmarried women in n Nigeria with good reason (they are the most unfaithful women in Nigeria )

5. Akwa ibom women always have the I was raped story by my uncle so I don't like sex ...this is always an excuse for why they have been sexually active for decades ahead of their pears

6. Akwa ibom women can't be faithful , and they always have an ex boyfriend or lover they have lived in the same house with for years ... Do your findings

7. Akwa ibom women will readily get into bed with any man they feel can better their lot. Yes you may say every woman does this but akwa ibom women will sleep with a security man for temporary benefit

8. Akwa ibom women will have mostly men as friends but some feel women who look like they walked out of a B-rate porn move and where body slammed by a hydraulic hammer.

9. Akwa ibom women are mostly pathological liars , believe none of what she says only what you see..akwa ibom woman most have a bit friend at work (usually sales girl, or hotel job, these are their go to career paths ), akwa ibom woman will have another boy friend in there brothers neighborhood, her aunt's neighbor, her church, her second church , her street, the chemist where she buys postinol or STD drugs regularly, akwa ibom woman must have also a boy friend at all her former places of employment and her village and in any state she has spent more than 2 weeks in.

10. Akwa ibom women don't ever feel remorse , I mean real morse when they are caught in weird situations, they get angry , hostile and try to spin it all on you [Image: grin.png]

11. They have no shame to and change houses in different neighborhoods quickly because they have been slut shamed in so many places that they keep moving to a new neighborhood with a new fake persona. Look around your neighborhood, you will see they fine Akwa ibom girl who just doesn't seem like she should be there.. yep that's one

12. They always hope to use their body to live like Tonto dike , but what they lack cerebrally just doesn't add up

13. Akwa ibom girls are like mice they are moved by what they see, (except she is ugly) they can readily throw away an engagement if they find a guy who shows some wealth and minimal care ....boom they run and open their legs

14 Akwa ibom girls have low self esteem generally hence they are very easy girls , they are every body's flavour of the week ! They are public property, they belong to all their ex's, friends , bosses, colleagues , male neighbors, rich agbero guy , yahoo boys in her neighborhood etc just don't get attached

15. An Akwa ibom lady can be engaged to three guys at the same time and none would be the wiser.

16. Akwa ibom girls generally have STDs and viginal infection. They would rather buy make up , and lightening creams than take proper care of their health .

17. Akwa ibom girls are generally dumb and make friends easily with Imo , Bayelsa , Rivers and Warri girls due to these girls tending to be loose with morals too.

18 Akwa ibom exposed successful men do not marry their women only the poor ones do..with food reason too.

19. Akwa ibom women are good if you are into fraud, crime , any negative means of income, she will ride or die and keep your secret because in that life she gets easy money , trips and shallow life style she craves for..but mind you she will end up in bed with more than few of the aquaintances she meets through you .

20. Go to any church you will find majority of over aged unmarried women are from Akwa ibom.. don't just believe me do your findings

21. 98% of them have nothing to offer a man besides sex , trivial gossip, lies, more lies, and quarrels

22. Akwa ibom girls are only good if you want to show off you have a fine fair girl but nothing more . If you met one who is calm , deep and unassuming, wait till she finally understands whatever she is around you for, the true persona shows

23. You can buy her a house , spend as much as you want to on her , give her everything she desires , she will still cheat , sleep around with men and tell you it's my life I can do whatever I want .. they lack true loyalty in a woman. When you are into crime she is slightly loyal only because of the free cash and outings nothing more .

24. Make her your side boo, girl friend, fiancee , best friend, whatever but never ever marry one

25. They can't help it but an Akwa ibom woman will always cheat, before you shout , you don't believe this because you haven't found out yet ..they can't help themselves, they will cheat for money and for nothing , they will cheat for the sake of it..to an Akwa ibom woman , one man's attention is never enough..she wants it from various men it's just how they are wired.

26. In every state in Nigeria you find cheats loose ladies etc. But it's a tradition with Akwa ibom women be warned brothers

27. Like all loose girls , akwa ibom women are homely , will come to your house and clean it on the first day , will cook for you , infact they are natural pay as you go maids but don't be deceived they do this in every guys house they visit.

I know this post will draw alot of abuse and flack but these are veritable facts

Interview 10 random men in your neighborhood or workplace who have dated Akwa ibom girls , start from there and you will start to see a pattern.

I am not saying all akwa ibom women are like this but 99% are and there is the odd freak of nature 1% whom just are different, maybe they where raised in Lagos or something odd

You can't polish a turd, akwa ibom women are just who they are... Don't hate them, plough your way through as many as possible but if you are looking for a wife look else where

I hope I saved someone today with this

PS. Rivers State , Imo state , Bayelsa , and Abia ladies have their reputation but nothing comes close to the traditional accepted norm the cheating and unfaithful life style of akwa ibom women

Kenyan Scientist, Prof Edagwa, Finds HIV And Hbv Cure
Posted by: Ladyzeus - 10-30-2019, 11:25 AM - No Replies

Interview with Kenyan scientist who developed Hiv-Aids cure

What are you doing about HIV/AIDs?

My experiences with patients living with HIV/AIDS made me re-examine my career goals and sparked my strong interest in HIV therapeutics. My research topic was on Long-Acting Slow Effective Release Antiretroviral Therapy (Laser Art).

The aim of my research is to create sequential long-acting slow-effective release antiviral therapy to facilitate HIV and hepatitis B prevention and treatment strategies. This work has now led to the first cure of HIV in an animal model of human infection and could provide lifesaving cures for millions of human patients around the world.

We are also developing imaging technologies that would allow us to visualise disease spread and distribution of medicines into different parts of the body without the need for performing surgical procedures. Such technologies will enable the development of better treatments.

What were the challenges you encountered during the research?

My ideas were rejected since I was proposing to do the opposite of what many had been doing in the field for decades. I persisted and reduced them into experiments. To make the long story short, the ideas are now a foundation of our research program and are a part of the first cure of HIV infection in an animal model of the disease. I also hold 13 US patent applications on the same ideas.

Compared to ARVs, how effective is Laser Art?

While regular ARVs have been successful in controlling HIV replication, the virus is able to hide in tissues and cells where most of these medicines have limited access. Laser Art is designed to deliver effective amounts of medicines into inaccessible parts of the body. It also simplifies medicine administrations and as such reduces viral transmission, prevent new infections, and limit the emergence of viral drug resistance and systemic toxicities/side effects.

For instance, regular ARVs require patients to take 365 doses a year. Laser Art will enable two doses or a single dose a year.

Perhaps of most significance is our collaborative work is demonstrating the first complete elimination of HIV-1 in a humanised mouse model of the disease using a combination of Laser Art and gene editing technologies.

What can the Kenyan universities learn from western universities?

We need continuous investment in research and development as theoretical knowledge-based learning alone will not solve our problems. We have some of the best minds at our local universities, who need support from the government to promote innovation and economic growth.

What sparked your interest in medicinal chemistry?

After completing my high school studies at Mbale High School, I enrolled in an undergraduate degree in chemistry at Moi University, Chepkoilel Campus (currently University of Eldoret) in 2005 and later a Masters in chemistry from the same university.

As I was finalising my Masters coursework, one of my lecturers, who is also now my mentor, Prof Samuel Lutta encouraged me to apply for a PhD programme abroad that is how I ended up at Louisiana State University (LSU) in the United States.

My interest in medicinal chemistry had begun when I was an undergraduate student, but unfortunately, there was limited scientific research at our local institutions. Joining LSU was one of the biggest turning points in my training. Not only did LSU fund my PhD studies, but I was also afforded an opportunity to train in a collaborative multi-cultural environment with state-of-the-art laboratory facilities.

What does medicinal chemistry entail and how important is it?

Medicinal chemistry encompasses development of new medicines that improve and eventually save lives. It is a field that merges many scientific disciplines such as biological and pharmaceutical sciences.

What was your experience studying in the US?

There are major differences between the programs in the US and the Kenyan ones. I found that the ones abroad offer high-quality graduate-level training to students that prepares them for life beyond college. There is also a lot of investment in research.

Some of the courses, like the one you studied are being scrapped because of their lack of competitiveness in the market. How do you feel about this?

Change is good, but we need to ask ourselves what have we done or are doing to promote and/or strengthen teaching, research and development in our local universities. There are many challenges that could be transformed into opportunities to provide local solutions and create jobs. Scrapping off the courses alone will not solve our problems.

The good news is that we have competent and qualified faculty members at our local institutions, who require proper tools to improve the quality of education offered at our universities.

How To Identify A Scam Interview Invitation
Posted by: Ladyzeus - 10-30-2019, 11:22 AM - No Replies

I have seen so many Nairalanders complaining and lamenting their ordeal in the hands of fake scam companies who invite people for interview only to introduce them to fake drug marketing business.
I'm doing this not only because these companies waste people's time, energy and T-fair going to such interviews, but also because most of these scammers extort money from hapless job seekers thereby making their suffering times two.
Imagine a scammer extorting #10,500 from a graduate who have been unemployed for years, not to talk of the transport fare wasted going to such fruitless interviews or job chat as they usually call it.
Some people even borrow money to pay these sheep in wolves clothing, who promise them heaven on earth. Some will tell you that you will make half a million within 1 month and all that. If you're not careful, you will take a loan that you will not be able to repay thus causing embarrassment and lack of rest of mind. An unemployed person should have only himself to worry about, not having debts also.

So I believe that if we are properly guided, we will not fall into the hands of these scammers.
Having said that, there are ways by which one can identify a fake or scam interview invitation and there fore avoid such waste of time and money. The good thing is that most of their messages come in the same format, so you will know its fake!

1. The message does not bear a company name: most of these scammers won't include their names on the message you will receive. All you will see are the address, the time and date and a phone number. A genuine company will not hide its identity from a potential employee.

2. The message will say "interview/job briefing": whatever job briefing means I don't know!
3. You will see a code or reference: something like "HR=0056" or "REF=002". This is an indication of the code number of the person who invited you to the "job briefing".
4. It will contain a phone number: this is the number of your referer. Most genuine companies don't give phone numbers.
5. You will see HR Admin in the message instead of company name
6. If you call their number, they will be reluctant to give info on the company.

And pls, ignore those people sharing job flyers on the streets, and those ones they paste on walls. Those are scammers and some ritualists too. And also most of these so called agencies are avenues for duping unsuspecting job seekers. Pls shine your eyes well well.
I will post the names of some of these fake companies/ agencies later.

Pls if you have any experiences inthe hands of these scammers kindly share it here so that others can learn and avoid them too. Thank you

Cheers!

National Youth Service Corps To Receive Minimum Wage
Posted by: Ladyzeus - 10-30-2019, 11:17 AM - No Replies

The National Youth Service Corps has said corps members will enjoy the N30,000 new minimum wage once the Federal Government commences payment.

The NYSC Director-General, Brig Gen Shuaibu Ibrahim, stated this in Abuja during an interview with reporters on Tuesday after a meeting between the body and the representatives of state governments.

The Minister of Youth and Sports, Mr Sunday Dare, and the Chairman of NYSC Governing Board, Fatimah Bala, attended the meeting.

The DG said, “We are going to commence payment as directed by the Federal Government. I spoke to corps members when I visited Jigawa State about four days ago. I told them that they had also benefitted from the minimum wage. They were so excited and were praying for the Federal Government, saying it will engender them to perform more duties for the country.

“Once the government commences with the civil servants, the corps members will enjoy the same. Our minister has directed that the further details will be communicated to us by the minister of finance.”

Daren said some states and local government areas had over the years failed to discharge their statutory responsibilities to the NYSC, adding that such trend must be reversed.

He said, “For the potential of corps members to be fully harnessed for national development, an atmosphere conducive to working must be created for them. However, there is the inability of critical stakeholders, especially states and local governments to fully discharge their statutory responsibilities to the scheme.
